I do....
On June 8th, Steve and I promised our lives to each other...in the middle of paradise. We have been honeymooning ever since! Thanks to friends and family who shared in our special day and have supported us in our new beginning...

Our Story
Steve and I have been life-long friends...ever since we can remember. We shared cupcakes at birthday parties, swam and splashed in blue plastic wading pools in our backyards, attended each other's school and sporting events, and sat with each other's family in church on Sundays. Steve's parents even accepted the daunting task of being the godparents of my four siblings and me when we were young.
Needless to say, our lives were intertwined for the first several years that we lived in neighboring towns.
It was after high school graduation and college that we lost touch and went our separate ways. With the occasional email or letter from Roline, Steve's mom, I was able to stay up-to-date on the happenings in his life and follow his journey into fatherhood...having four children. Meanwhile, I was busy caring for four kids of my own! That is right. We each have two girls and two boys.
It was twenty years later that we reconnected on Facebook and found our lives and challenges to be parallel with one another, in many ways. Months later, Steve's job brought him to Texas and we began dating immediately. We are convinced that the timing of our reunion was not a coincidence and are grateful to have been put in each other's life for this special purpose. My daughter, McKenna likes to take credit for match-making, because she made the suggestion early on, that we should go out on a real date...not just as friends, but a REAL date! We are blessed to have the support of the children.
I tease Steve because I'd always had a HUGE crush on him when we were teens. But he is 3 years older than I am, which made me invisible to him as a prospective girlfriend. (The perspective on life looks much different to a 14 year old girl than it does to a 17 year old guy.) Now that Steve is 42 and I am a mere 39, he likes the way our age difference looks! ;) Roline says that when I was in the second grade, I told her I was going to marry her son someday! Little did we know...
We have found so much comfort, support, love, kindness, and compassion in one another. Already having an established friendship, made our relationship one that was "easy." We randomly smile at the thought of the other, finish each other's sentences, read each other's thoughts, enjoy the same things, celebrate each other's successes and lift one another up during the challenges...loving one another unconditionally. This journey has not been an easy one, but has been worth it. We look forward to spending the rest of our lives being the friends we began as, and the companions that truly love for an eternity...happily ever after.
